CALGARY. x–09s. An Indigenous entrepreneur from B-C says an Alberta United Conservative Party plan to pick up the legal tab of
pro-development First Nations is an excellent idea. U-C-P Leader Jason Kenney touted the idea in a speech last week as part of a broader
strategy to take on critics of Alberta’s energy industry. Calvin Helin is president of Eagle Spirit, a company proposing a pipeline
connecting oilsands crude to the northern B-C coast. He says northern B-C First Nations in favour of new pipelines are no match for
well-funded environmental groups.
